Job Title: Precision Fabrication Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled Precision Fabrication Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality fabrication services for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications to determine materials, methods, and sequences of operation for custom fabrication projects.
* Fabricate and assemble precision metal components to exact tolerances for specialised machinery and equipment.
* Perform high-quality welding operations including TIG and MIG on various materials, with expertise in food-grade stainless steel fabrication.
* Fit and align fabricated parts using precision measuring instruments including micrometres, callipers, and specialised gauges to ensure perfect assembly.
* Set up, configure, and operate comprehensive machining tools including lathes, presses, grinders, and drilling equipment for component manufacturing and repair.
* Adjust machine controls, guides, and stops to achieve precise specifications and tolerances required for industrial and agricultural equipment.
* Operate various metalworking equipment to cut, shape, grind, and finish components, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of quality and precision.
* Install and commission hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including precision pipe cutting, threading, bending, and fitting for machinery and processing plants.
* Diagnose mechanical faults and perform preventative maintenance on industrial equipment, processing machinery, and agricultural plant to ensure optimal performance.
* Overhaul and repair complex mechanical components including gears, bearings, drive systems, and specialised agricultural machinery parts.
* Service and maintain fluid power systems (hydraulic / pneumatic) and associated equipment used throughout the processing and agricultural operations.
* Assist with machinery and plant installation, commissioning, and relocation activities, ensuring all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
* Conduct rigorous quality control checks throughout the fabrication and assembly process to ensure all work meets engineering standards and project requirements.
* Implement improvements to fabrication techniques and maintenance procedures to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
* Maintain comprehensive documentation of work performed, including modifications, repairs, and maintenance activities for equipment history and traceability.
Requirements:
* Trade qualification as a Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Fitter & Welder, or equivalent recognised certification.
* Minimum 2 years' full-time post-apprenticeship experience in a similar role within manufacturing, FMCG, or agricultural engineering environments.
* Current driver's licence and reliable transport to access various site locations.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, engineering specifications, and workshop manuals.
* Expertise in using precision measuring instruments and conducting quality control checks to ensure work meets exacting standards.
* Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a wide range of industrial and agricultural machinery.
* Strong safety focus with comprehensive understanding and application of workshop protocols and risk management procedures.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work methodically and efficiently under pressure.
* Flexibility to work across different projects and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
