May be scheduled up to 15 hours per pay period)CLOSING DATE:SALARY RANGE:AS PER THE CURRENT OPSEU 101 WAGE GRIDUNION:OPSEUJOB SUMMARY:An Autopsy Assistant provides technical Assistance to pathologists in conducting autopsies and provides other technical services required to carry out examination and dissection of human remains as legislated by the Coroners Act. The incumbent must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:• Degree or Diploma in Health Related or Scientific field• Forensic Sciences or medical/pathology background ~ preferred• Knowledge of gross anatomy, pathology, macro surgical techniques, and general laboratory skills.• Understanding of safety and infection control requirements of position. Demonstrated ability to obtain and prepare tissue for evaluation, provide assistance to pathologists, in a timely and quality manner.• Proficiency in preparing and maintaining records, use of electronic communications tools and software.• A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.• High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, with pathologists, surgeons, nursing and all associated staff.• Able to dictate using appropriate terminology in a logical, concise manner.• Ability and commitment to work within a collaborative, team-based approach• Excellent time management and project management skills.• Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.• High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.• Capacity for calm and reasoned judgment• Commitment to quality patient care• Demonstrate integrity in patient confidentiality• Be physically fit and able to meet the physical demands necessary to perform lifting, carrying and positioning of specimens and bodies.• French Language proficiency an asset.Windsor Regional Hospital is an equal opportunity employer.
