Position: Registrar or Principal House Officer – General Surgery
Location: Townsville, Queensland, Australia
Job Overview
The Townsville University Hospital is a 600+ bed hospital. The General Surgery department is staffed by 4 Staff Consultants and 5 VMOs, with 5 training positions.
This temporary full‐time position is available from 02/02/2026 to 31/01/2027.
General surgical procedures are performed with subspecialty interests.
Responsibilities
* Perform a wide range of general surgical procedures.
Qualifications
* Qualified as a medical practitioner with current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Accepted into a recognised vocational college training program relevant to the speciality.
* If not accepted into a recognised programme, employment will be as a Principal House Officer with remuneration at PHO Level per fortnight (L4‐L7).
Salary and Benefits
* Salary range: $5,130.40 to $5,931.50 per fortnight (L4‐L9).
* 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
* 4 weeks annual leave plus 17.5% leave loading.
* Locality allowance.
