Overview
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Pacific People Function at Marsh. This role will be based in Melbourne or Sydney. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Senior Operational Risk and Compliance Manager
Reporting to the Head of Governance, Risk & Business Operations – Marsh Pacific People Function, this role plays a critical role in managing and enhancing the operational risk and compliance management framework within the HR function of a leading Australian financial services provider.
Operating across the Pacific People Function (PPF), the role is pivotal in safeguarding the integrity, compliance, and resilience of the HR function. The incumbent will support the PPF in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring people-related risks while aligning with regulatory obligations and the Organisation's Enterprise Risk and Compliance Management Framework.
We will count on you to:
* Operationalise the MMC Pacific Risk Management Framework, including Risk Management Forum, risk profiling, and risk reporting for Executive and relevant Boards and Committees.
* Support the strengthening of risk maturity within the business by driving a strong risk-aware culture through training, communication and processes.
* Proactively identify operational risks within HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll and HR operations, remuneration, employee conduct, performance management, offboarding, and outsourcing/vendor management.
* Provide proactive, reliable and relevant risk and control advice to address business needs, manage issues and promote the interests and strategic objectives of the People Function.
* Design and document controls that link to the PPF's risk and compliance registers.
* Design and maintain control test plans for assurance activities to be undertaken and assessed against.
* Undertake controls assurance to identify and update gaps in controls and procedures and work with the business to ensure compliance.
* Assist with the day-to-day management of incidents, issues and breaches and ensure timely resolution, improvement to the control environment through root cause analysis, thematic reviews and compliance assessments.
* Partner with Legal, Compliance, and PPF SMEs to update HR policies, procedures, and processes to meet legislative requirements.
* Maintain and enhance the Business's Risk and Compliance Management Framework (policies, procedures, tools) in line with changing regulatory environments, internal standards/policy and industry best practice.
* Enable the business to operate effectively within the applicable regulatory requirements, Industry codes and internal risk appetite by maintaining an obligations and risks register and documenting controls that can be linked against them.
What you need to have:
* Strong understanding of enterprise risk and compliance management frameworks gained from either Risk, Legal, Auditing or Compliance experience (7+ years), ideally from a financial services background and/or a HR function.
* Proven experience operating within complex and highly regulated financial services environments.
* Experience in end-to-end Business Continuity Plan (BCP) management, including developing, maintaining, and testing BCPs, coordinating with first-line business units, and ensuring alignment with the organisation's risk management framework.
* Excellent problem solving and evaluative judgement skills.
* Demonstrated interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to understand complex concepts whilst working collaboratively with both the business and wider risk teams.
* Experience in managing multiple projects/tasks with competing deadlines.
* Demonstrated ability to work in an environment requiring high attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
* Very strong written and verbal communication skills with experience writing Committee papers and other risk and compliance reporting.
* Experience in governance and oversight of third party service providers.
