About the Role:
Our Federal Government client is seeking a Senior Cloud and Automation Engineer. This is a 12‑month contract role, with a potential 12‑month extension, located at our client’s ACT office in a hybrid set‑up.
Job Details:
The client requires a Cloud Automation Specialist to deliver scalable and secure cloud automation supporting the company’s resiliency goals for PROTECTED capabilities while considering dependencies and dependent systems and services. The candidate will design cost‑effective, secure and resilient cloud‑based PROTECTED solutions, identify opportunities to consolidate, simplify, streamline and continually improve cloud‑based or cloud‑utilising internal and customer capabilities.
Requirements:
Must be an Australian citizen.
Must have a current Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) clearance.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Identify opportunities for automation within software processes.
Run tests using tools and scripts for databases, systems, networks and applications.
Test automated techniques to ensure they perform effectively and complete assigned tasks.
Design and execute QA tests using scripts and tools that automatically test functionality.
Identify bugs and quality issues during the software development life cycle, and/or business and back‑end processes within the scope of automation.
Collaborate with other business units to understand how automation can improve workflow.
Design and implement automated solutions for cloud‑based infrastructure, such as scripts.
Manage complex cloud environments, including security measures for protecting data.
Technical skills:
Bachelor’s degree in IT, systems engineering, computer science or a related field.
Robust skills in programming and scripting.
Expertise in at least one major cloud platform – AWS preferred.
Proficiency with Infrastructure‑as‑Code.
Essential criteria:
Solid understanding of computer programming and software development; BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related subject.
Experience with one or more automation tools.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system tests.
Excellent analytical, organisational skills and attention to detail with strong leadership and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to communicate well with other members of the development team.
Due to security clearance requirements, candidates must be Australian citizens and must have NV1 security clearance.
