About The Role
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Energy Markets & Development (EM&D) Data Engineering team within Information Systems & Technology. This core technical role focuses on designing, building, and supporting scalable data solutions that underpin trading, portfolio, and enterprise analytics capabilities. You will work within a cross‐functional agile team to deliver high‐quality data pipelines, contribute to the enterprise data platform, and drive engineering best practice across the function.
What You'll Be Doing
* Design, build, and maintain scalable, high‐quality data pipelines and analytics solutions
* Contribute to the development and ongoing support of the enterprise data platform
* Collaborate with engineers, architects and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
* Work within agile delivery frameworks, contributing to planning, code reviews, and continuous improvement of engineering practices
* Ensure solutions are secure, resilient, and aligned to enterprise architecture, while proactively managing risks and technical debt
* Maintain data assets and ensure compliance with AGL's security, governance and IT standards
What You'll Bring
* Strong data engineering experience, including building and optimising data pipelines and ETL/ELT frameworks
* Proficiency in SQL and modern cloud data platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure (e.g. Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Data Lake)
* Experience with Python/PySpark and working with diverse data formats and integration patterns
* Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools (e.g. GitHub, Azure DevOps) and modern engineering standards
* Understanding of contemporary data architectures and modelling approaches (e.g. lakehouse, medallion, Data Vault/dimensional modelling)
* Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in agile, cross‐functional teams
