Role
The role will support the wellbeing and safety of the school community by ensuring the grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard. The role will involve a range of scheduled maintenance responsibilities and projects as well as responding to and addressing maintenance and safety needs. This role reports directly to the Principal.
Responsibilities
* Grounds and gardens cleaned daily including rubbish collection.
* Safe operation and maintenance of power tools and equipment.
* Ability to work independently and part of a team.
* Identify and report Occupational Health an Safety issues.
* Safely moving of heavy furniture and equipment, including set up and pack up of various school events.
* Graffiti removal.
* Perform various landscape and seasonal garden duties.
* Maintenance of work sheds and storerooms.
* Preparation and painting of interior and exterior surfaces.
* Operation of security locks and alarm systems.
* Collection of supplies, tools, equipment or fuel for specific tasks. This may include travelling to locations away from the school site. eg. Bunnings etc.
* Minimising the impact on classrooms when completing tasks, especially when using tools which create noise.
* Wearing appropriate PPE, completing required hearing testing and on-line modules.
* Develop, implement and monitor a planting and garden maintenance schedule.
* Evaluate and select equipment, materials and plants and make recommendations to senior management.
* Coordinate the purchase of equipment and materials.
* Respond to maintenance tasks as they are required.
* Comply with requirements of scheduled inspections (tree audit, facility audit, asbestos, mechanical equipment.
* Ensure storage areas are in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
* Assist with setup of school events.
* Manage procedures relating to the maintenance and care of gardening equipment.
* Assist with the security of equipment and buildings.
* Ensure work complies with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and practices.
* Undertake any other duties as directed by the Principal.

Location Profile
At our safe and supportive school we work in teams to support our staff and students to create meaningful life-long impact
Manorvale Primary School was established in 1983 and is located on the Werribee River and situated on the site named after the Manor House owned by the Chirnside family. The Werribee River provided a boundary between the territories of the Woiwurong First Nations people to the northeast and the Wathawurrung to the southwest. The school is organised in straight year level structure.
The school is predominantly English speaking but also contains students from a range of cultural backgrounds including refugee and asylum-seeking families. 30% of students come from non-English speaking background including refugee students. 18 of our students are indigenous Australians.
The school continues to use and examine data to inform and guide teacher practice. The school is undergoing a transformation process where we have embedded the principles of the Science of Learning, guided by Rosenshine, and school wide operational expectations resulting in a calm and consistent learning environment.
The school is undertaking a $12.1 million capital works project to supply new buildings. At the 2025 student census the school had 280 students.
