As Foundations Care continually expands, we are excited to start our new journey in Tasmania. We are currently seeking applications for dedicated Youth Workers to join our team based in our Salaried Care Home located in the Hobart region.
Casuals can earn up to $45.58 per hour depending on experience and qualifications, with penalty rates as high as $100 per hour on public holidays.
There is also potential for part-time positions to become available.
Our team provides young people with support in a homely and welcoming residential care setting. This role directly supports the daily routine of young people, providing quality, safe care and guidance within their living environment and the community.
You will work within a team of Youth Workers and be responsible for ensuring the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of the young people, while working towards planned goals and independence. You will support young people with a range of developmental, behavioural, and psychological needs through coaching, mentoring, training, and modeling to build their life skills, support positive decision-making, access opportunities, and achieve their life and planning goals.
About you:
To be successful in this role, it is preferred that you demonstrate knowledge and experience relevant to working with young people in residential and/or youth programs, including:
Knowledge and experience working with young people with cognitive, social, developmental, and behavioural needs
Experience working with Indigenous and culturally diverse families and communities
Experience in engagement, assessment, and intervention with children and relevant stakeholders
A demonstrated commitment to achieving positive outcomes for young people using a valuing and strengths-based approach
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including debriefing, conflict resolution, negotiation, mediation, public speaking, promotional communication, and reporting
The Youth Worker will ideally:
Hold a Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention (Residential Care), or
Be enrolled in a Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention (Residential Care), or
Possess another recognized qualification in Community, Youth Work, or Human Services, or a relevant diploma or tertiary qualification.
Additionally, you should have, or be willing to obtain, a current First Aid and CPR certificate.
