We are seeking a skilled Draftsperson to join our team. As a key member of our design and engineering department, you will play a crucial role in the creation of commercial marine vessels.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and engineering support of commercial marine vessels. This involves producing high-quality CAD drawings and models that meet operational requirements and maritime regulations.
1. Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop commercial marine vessels used in pearling and aquaculture operations
* Create and maintain 2D & 3D drafting for vessel design projects
* Collaborate with design and production teams to transform concepts into precise CAD designs
* Prepare calculations, drawings, and reports in accordance with maritime regulations and technical specifications
* Closely collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure accurate design requirements
* Support ship and minor vessel repairs and modifications, as well as provide project administration support
* Reverse engineer existing designs, capture/draw old modifications, and bring old hand drawings into 2/3D formats
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
2. Experience in 2D drafting and 3D modelling principles
3. Familiarity with software such as Maxsurf, Rhino, and FEA tools
4. A strong interest in the maritime and aquaculture sectors
5. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, and Microsoft Office Suite
6. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
7. A self-motivated attitude, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
9. A willingness to learn and contribute across a variety of commercial vessel projects
10. Australian citizenship or relevant work rights
11. Diploma, degree, or similar qualifications in Marine design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
