About the Role

We are seeking applications for the roles of Workshop Technician - Lighting & Workshop Technician -Lighting Test & Tag. These are essential roles participating in systems and support functions of the Lighting Department within the Production Services Unit to provide hands-on professional, client-focused services to venue hirers and other QPAC Units.

These roles share similar duties, including (but not limited to):

* Undertake the Testing & Tagging of electrical appliances/cables for multiple departments across the organisation in accordance with legislation.
* Communicate effectively with a broad range of people and with a flexible open-minded approach, to negotiate suitable times to conduct testing, so as to minimize operational impacts to the organisation.
* Maintain a yearly Test & Tag schedule, in accordance with Test & Tag time frames, venue operations etc.
* Assist LX department with day-to-day operations and housekeeping including, but not limited to LX production equipment storage, organisation, gig preparation as required.
* Assist in the upkeep of QPAC's inventory management software.
* Assist with the service, repairs and maintenance of lighting / electrical equipment and systems in accordance with maintenance schedules, and in accordance with qualification limitations.
* Assist LX Workshop to co-ordinate and carry out cost effective service, repairs and maintenance of lighting / electrical equipment and systems in accordance with maintenance schedules
* Provide a Test & Tag service to clients/hirers/visitors as required.
* Provide technical support, when required, for Lighting and electrical systems used in venues for set-ups, rehearsals and performances in a team environment.
* Assist with the development and presentation of training programs in relation to Test and Tagging operations
* Identify, and rectify faults and issues with electrical equipment, control systems and data networks in a live theatre environment.
* Provide support to LX department operational roles as required.
* Comply with all QPAC policies and procedures and undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by senior management.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for:

* Demonstrated ability to install, operate, repair and maintain lighting and electrical systems and equipment used in a live theatre environment.
* Demonstrated ability to research, develop, design, and install lighting systems and equipment in a live theatre environment.
* Demonstrated ability to find, analyse and rectify faults under pressure and in tight time frames.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people and with a flexible open-minded approach to change in high-pressure situations.
* Demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of customer service in a high pressure, cost conscious live theatre environment.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a hands-on team environment in multiple venues and to work effectively as part of a team.
* Commitment to work long and flexible hours for prolonged periods including overnight and at weekends.
