Brisbane Boys' College is an established GPS day and boarding school founded in 1902, dedicated to developing boys into worthy leaders and good citizens. Located just four kilometres from Brisbane's centre, we educate students from Prep to Year 12.
About the Role
Join our English team and make a real impact on students' learning journey from Years 7 to 9. In this part-time, fixed-term role through to the end of the year, you will design and deliver engaging, intellectually stimulating lessons that challenge, inspire, and empower our boys.
Reporting to the Head of English, you will be part of a highly experienced and collegial team, united by a shared commitment to creating the best possible learning environment. We support each other through the challenges and always make sure to have fun along the way. Our department is well organised and exceptionally resourced, making it a professional and rewarding working environment.
As a member of the English Faculty, you will:
* Teach English across middle school classes
* Create engaging, inclusive, and thought-provoking learning experiences.
* Foster a love of literature, language, and critical thinking in your students.
* Collaborate with colleagues to design innovative and challenging curriculum initiatives.
* Support students pastorally and academically within a strong community of care.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will need knowledge of the relevant Middle school curricula along with the ability to take initiative in developing assessment tasks and preparing resources. In addition, you will be expected to:
* Deliver engaging lessons to students across middle school levels and differentiate effectively within the classroom.
* Ability to understand and apply the specific scaffolding strategies we use to support our boys' learning.
* Work collaboratively with the leadership team, teachers, and other staff to contribute to the professional life of the school and foster a positive school culture.
* Develop students' confidence and competence in reading, writing, speaking, and analytical thinking.
* Build students' self-esteem and serve as a positive role model through presentation, actions, and communication.
* Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, along with highly developed organisational, communication, and administrative abilities.

Eligibility and Mandatory Requirements:
* Eligibility to work in Australia with relevant teaching qualifications and current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Queensland College of Teachers.
* Adhere to the PMSA Code of Conduct.
