A Senior Legal Counsel position may be available for a suitable applicant. Our legal team advises on a diverse range of matters including commercial, regulatory, leasing, corporate and governance, property, incidents, disputes (including heath/aged care/disability care/privacy complaints ), ICT, IP, fundraising, marketing wills and estates, and various enterprise projects. Your part in our UnitingCare team Provide legal advice (both written and verbal) and apply legal expertise and knowledge of the law to deliver strategies that minimise risk and maximise value, in compliance with legislation and industry regulations. Drafting and amendment of various precedents for use by the organisation. Apply legal expertise to advise on legal risk and policies. Assist and/or advise on general legal matters such as contract and commercial work, regulatory matters, property transactions, leases and privacy and data matters. Negotiation and drafting of contracts, including government funding contracts, procurement contracts, including ICT contracts, to give the best commercial outcome for the organisation. Develop and maintain guidance material to assist in negotiation and to expedite contract drafting with relevant parties. Develop, plan, review and implement policies and procedures relating to management of legal matters which contribute to effective organisational compliance with requirements of key funders and stakeholders. Develop, maintain and present ongoing education and professional development in legal and compliance matters and broader organisation. Other duties as required including, but not limited to, responding to subpoenas, court orders (including Coronial matters), regulatory notices, notices of non-party disclosure and privacy requests and representing UnitingCare in court, tribunal and mediation processes if. What makes a difference for us? Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies. This may include: Nationally Coordinated Police Check, Right to Work in Australia Significant post admission experience as a legal practitioner. A current unconditional Queensland legal practising certificate, or the ability to acquire one. Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas of practice - commercial, regulatory (health, aged care, family and child services, disability services, retirement villages or privacy desirable), leasing, corporate and governance, property, incidents, disputes ( heath/aged care/disability care/privacy complaints desirable), ICT, IP, fundraising, marketing, wills and estates and enterprise projects.. An understanding of or interest in the health, aged care, disability services and social services sectors. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels. Exceptional communication skills, and the ability to distil complex ideas into simple actions and next steps; and Self-starter who can work in a busy and supportive team environment.
