* Full time ongoing opportunity
* Based in Parramatta with flexible working arrangements available
* Salary ranges from $149,739 to $173,174 p.a. plus super and annual leave loading

About the role
You will be leading and overseeing our compliance program, to ensure the department meets its legal, regulatory, and policy obligations. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders to promote transparency and integrity across our department.

Key responsibilities include:

* Lead the design, implementation and management of the department's compliance framework
* Provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior executives and Audit and Risk Committee to effectively manage issues, risks and improvements
* Manage the compliance register, and use data and reporting tools to enable informed decision making around compliance risks
* Develop training and awareness programs to strengthen compliance knowledge
* Lead a new team to build capability and expertise

About you

* Proven experience in developing and leading organisational compliance programs
* Skilled in providing strategic advice and influencing stakeholders to embed compliance into everyday practice
* Sound knowledge of public sector governance, risk and compliance practices.
* High-level understanding of relevant NSW legislation, regulations and policy frameworks (e.g., GSF Act, State Records Act).
* Excellent communicator, able to prepare reports, briefings, and submissions for senior leadership and committees.
* Experienced in leading teams, and building a collaborative, high-performance culture
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

* Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, Public Administration or a related field and/or demonstrated, equivalent professional experience
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
* Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for paid employment.
