The Astor Hotel and Bar is a vibrant and well-loved venue known for its welcoming atmosphere, great food, and exceptional service. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and take ownership of all culinary operations. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and manage day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service Design and execute seasonal menus that align with current food trends and customer preferences Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff to maintain a high-performing team Ensure consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation Manage stock levels, food costs, and supplier relationships effectively Maintain strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and OH&S standards Coordinate with management to contribute to menu development, promotions, and events Drive innovation and continuous improvement in the kitchen About You: Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a busy pub, bistro, or hotel environment Ability to lead and motivate a kitchen team with strong communication and organisational skills Solid understanding of food cost control, inventory management, and kitchen procedures Creativity and passion for delivering quality food Relevant trade qualifications (Cert III or IV in Commercial Cookery) Commitment to food safety and workplace health standards What We Offer: A supportive and professional team environment Autonomy to shape and enhance the menu Opportunity for growth and development Staff meals and venue discounts Competitive remuneration package Permanent Full Time role with $80K - $90K (plus super) If you believe you would be a good fit for our team, please send your resume and contact details to the details attached.
