This role involves supporting the agency to document business requirements, capture business needs, and design, create, evaluate, and document ICT solutions in new and existing ICT systems.Solution Design Managers are responsible for the successful planning and implementation of ICT solutions to support the overall business goals and objectives of the functional area. They engage and liaise with the business areas and customers to articulate process improvements and problem resolutions, exercising a considerable degree of independence with decision making based on high-level judgement and consideration of wider agency implications. They drive innovation, change workplace practices, and organize work in the context of competing priorities and strategic direction.The level of Security Clearance required for a role will be confirmed at the time of contract.Main DutiesDuties may include, but are not limited to, some or all of the following:Oversee the operations and management of a team, including managing business performance, established priorities, and managing resources and workflow.Align the value chain with portfolio, development, and solution packaging.Develop and execute a solution vision for product expansion.Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and manage and lead change.Translate market trends, insights, and customer needs into relevant solutions.Review and analyse existing application effectiveness and efficiency to ensure they meet end user requirements.Develop strategies to identify and resolve system issues.Use progress against business outcomes, key performance indicators, and quality assurance reports to inform overall management, strategic direction, and future planning.Identify and leverage best practice pipeline growth activities, including business planning, development, execution, and measurement.Set direction by contributing and aligning to local business plans and ICT strategies.Oversee, review, and advise on a range of written material, including technical and corporate documentation.Negotiate, engage, and manage relationships with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability.Collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.Attend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes and share information.Manage finances, contracts, procurement, resources, and expenditure within area of responsibility.Oversee team contribution to costings process.Main Skills/AttributesSkills for the Information Age (SFIA) required:Business process improvement BPRE - Level 6Emerging technology monitoring EMRG - Level 5Enterprise and business architecture STPL - Level 5Stakeholder relationship management RLMT - Level 6Ability to:Understand linkages and develop long term strategic plans for the work area while considering work in the context of future priorities.Develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.Resolve conflict using appropriate strategies, ensuring suitable outcomes for the parties involved.Negotiate and influence effectively to achieve quality outcomes.Understand the audience and context, anticipate responses and effectively tailor communication and communication styles.Undertake objective, critical analysis and distil the core issues.Work significantly independently under broad direction and act collaboratively.Make balanced decisions using professional judgement, risk evaluation, and in the context of ambiguity and a changing environment.Every application requires addressing selection criteria as part of the application submission.
