Whitsunday Anglican School is seeking an experienced and proactive Systems and Network Administrator to join our Information Technology Team. This is a key role responsible for the reliability, security, and performance of the School's systems and network infrastructure, supporting both educational and business operations.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Information Technology, the Systems and Network Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, security, and performance of the School's systems and network infrastructure. This role is a key contributor within the Information Technology Team, ensuring the continuous, reliable, and secure operation of technology services that support teaching, learning, and business operations.
The Systems and Network Administrator will maintain and monitor server and network environments, manage cybersecurity and vulnerability controls, and ensure network access and content filtering align with child protection and eSafety standards. The role also contributes to infrastructure projects, system improvements, documentation, and vendor management, while providing advanced technical support and escalation assistance to staff and students.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* A qualification in Information Technology and relevant industry certifications (essential).
* Proven experience administering enterprise-level systems, servers, and network infrastructure.
* Experience working in a school or education environment (highly desirable).
* Strong technical capability across Windows Server, Office 365, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Azure, including compute, site recovery, storage, and endpoint management.
* Solid networking experience, including switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, wireless networks, and authentication protocols.
* Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity, vulnerability management, content filtering, and child safety requirements.
* Experience managing backups, disaster recovery, virtualised environments, and data protection solutions.
* Ability to deploy and manage security monitoring tools and respond to potential system or network threats.
* Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex system and network issues efficiently.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
