About the jobSKL Technology is currently searching for a motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join our client within their Core Infrastructure team.The role involves supporting and securing enterprise infrastructure platforms, with a strong focus on backup, recovery, and data protection across on-prem and cloud environments. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining backup and recovery solutions using Cohesity (NetBackup / Alta), working closely with infrastructure, database, and application teams to ensure resilient, compliant, and well-documented data protection services. This role also contributes to broader infrastructure modernisation initiatives and provides technical advice to senior stakeholders.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain enterprise backup and recovery solutions using Veritas NetBackup / Cohesity.Configure and manage backup operations for SQL Server, Exchange, Linux, Oracle, and SharePoint environments.Deploy and manage Cohesity Alta data protection solutions in Microsoft Azure.Configure and support Cohesity Alta SaaS protection services.Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure successful data protection outcomes.Perform regular backup validation and disaster recovery testing.Collaborate with infrastructure, database, and application teams to ensure full backup coverage and performance.Maintain comprehensive documentation for backup architecture, procedures, and recovery plans.Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, internal policies, and security standards.Deliver infrastructure projects both independently and as part of a broader delivery team.Create, update, and maintain infrastructure documentation as solutions evolve.Participate in after-hours maintenance activities as required.
Essential CriteriaSenior-level experience as a Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer in enterprise environments.Strong hands-on experience with Cohesity and/or Veritas NetBackup backup and recovery solutions.Proven experience protecting enterprise workloads including SQL Server, Exchange, Linux, Oracle, and SharePoint.Experience deploying and managing backup solutions in Azure, including SaaS-based protection.Strong understanding of backup validation, disaster recovery testing, and operational support.Experience working in regulated environments with strong compliance and governance requirements.Ability to work autonomously while also contributing effectively within a team.Strong documentation skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.
