About the Role We're seeking a Lead Engineer in Data Migration Assurance & Test Automation to provide critical leadership for one of Australia's largest-ever banking transformations. You will be the owner of data integrity, responsible for designing and building the automated testing and reconciliation frameworks that ensure a multi-billion dollar program's success.You will be tasked with solving the most complex data quality and reconciliation challenges, where success is measured by the trust, accuracy, and assurance you deliver. You will lead the technical strategy for proving that the migration is flawless, building the capability to validate data for millions of customers across hundreds of products. Working collaboratively with our clients, your responsibilities will include though not limited to: Test & Reconciliation Strategy: Define and own the end-to-end data testing, validation, and reconciliation strategy. Your frameworks will be the single source of truth for data integrity. Automation & Framework Development: Architect, design, and advise on a sophisticated, automated reconciliation build. The goal is to replace slow, manual validation with rapid, reliable, and repeatable automated checks. Technical Leadership: Act as the foremost expert on data quality and testing for the program. You will provide technical direction, shape best practices, and guide both client and ClearRoute teams in solving intractable data challenges. Problem-Solving & Reverse Engineering: Dive deep into complex and poorly documented legacy systems to uncover hidden logic, define testable transformation rules, and prevent critical data defects from derailing the migration. Stakeholder Management: Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, translating complex data challenges into clear, actionable insights and providing the confidence they need to make go-live decisions. Foundational Leadership & Mentorship: As the subject matter expert, you will establish the gold standard for data assurance on the program. You will mentor and upskill client and ClearRoute engineers in data quality, automated testing, and reconciliation, acting as the core from which the practice will grow. Opportunity to Shape the Practice: As your strategy delivers results and the engagement scales, you will have a crucial voice in shaping the future of the data assurance practice. You will be instrumental in defining the capabilities needed, mentoring new members, and influencing the growth and direction of the team. Defining Migration Success: Be accountable for defining the measures of success for the migration and ensure these critical indicators are built by the engineering teams You Will Have Expertise in defining data quality, testing, and reconciliation strategies for large-scale, complex transformations, particularly in the banking and financial services industry. A proven track record of designing and building automated data reconciliation and testing frameworks from scratch. Deep, hands-on skills in Data Modelling, Data Processing, and especially Data Reconciliation. Advanced proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) used for building custom automation tools and performing deep data analysis. A strong understanding of enterprise ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, DataStage) and data warehousing concepts, with a focus on how to test and validate their outputs effectively. Competence in assessing and validating complex migration patterns (e.g., ETLR, re-booking). Experience leading and mentoring high-performing data or quality engineering teams. Stellar stakeholder management skills and the ability to instil confidence in non-technical leaders. What We Value We recognise talent comes in many forms.
