Life Publishing Group is an independent, fast-growing media company servicing Mid to North Queensland. We proudly publish four weekly newspapers and two bi-monthly magazines, delivering trusted local news, lifestyle and community stories across the region.
With our head office based in the Whitsundays, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Editorial Team Leader to support our Editor-in-Chief and help drive editorial excellence across our growing portfolio of titles.

About the Role
This is a hands-on mentorship role ideal for a second or third year journalist ready to progress to the next level. You will help shape editorial strategy, guide content planning and mentor cadet journalists while contributing high-quality editorial content yourself.

Key Responsibilities
· Lead editorial strategy and content planning across four regional titles
· Oversee story development and coordinate contributors and journalists
· Mentor, train and edit copy from junior journalists
· Act as the first point of contact for the editorial team before escalation to the Editor-in-Chief
· Write complex political, investigative and topical articles as required
· Create and manage social media content for Core Life and Tripping
· Assist with pagination planning alongside the Editor-in-Chief
· Attend and contribute to weekly pagination meetings
· Support the Editor-in-Chief with administrative tasks, including streamlining and improving existing editorial workflows

About You
· Proven experience in journalism, both online and in print
· Strong news judgement and ability to manage multiple deadlines
· Confident mentor with excellent communication skills
· Comfortable writing in-depth topical content
· Organised, proactive and solutions-focused
· Familiarity with regional media and community-focused storytelling is highly regarded
· Ideally strong on social media and innovation in the fast-paced ever-evolving media world
