Join our team as Event Captain at The Star Brisbane.
The Star Brisbane, positioned at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct, will be Australia’s newest entertainment and leisure destination.
Commencing a staged opening in 2024, The Star Brisbane will bring a range of unique entertainment options, world class hotels, dining, bars, luxury retail, gaming and a state-of-the-art Event Centre, transforming how people will play, shop and socialise in the river city.
The Star Brisbane Events team is looking to appoint multiple Event Captains with experience in working on the floor, behind the bar and within event logistics.
The Event Captains will report directly to the Event Floor Manager and be responsible for supervising, guiding, and assisting the events team in either a bar environment or working closely with our logistics team.
In this role, you will proactively manage the event floor staff either across the main Event, Bars or Logistics and liaise closely with our guests and clients to ensure you deliver a perfect event flow on the day.
The Event Captains will work to accommodate a range of events such as conventions, exhibitions, functions, galas, and weddings.
**A few of your responsibilities for a Bar Captain**
- Supervise, guide and assist bar team with on-the-job training and development
- Proactively oversee and manage the Event Floor service flow and maintain performance standards
- Provide viable suggestions to the Manager to help boost the outlet's productivity
- Follow instructions given by the Floor Manager daily for smooth business operations
- Continuously monitor the work of team members during shifts
**What we will be looking for in a Bar Captain**
- Strong knowledge and experience within a high-volume bar, from ordering products to making cocktails.
- Proven time-management skills, with the ability to thrive in a high-pressure working environment
- Proven ability to build productive relationships and to manage and instigate change
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Responsible Service of Alcohol accreditation
**A few of your responsibilities for a Logistics Captain**
- Supervise, guide and assist Logistics team with on-the-job training and development
- Proactively oversee and manage the Event Floor service flow and maintain performance standards, from bumping in/out, unloading trucks and motoring High-Risk activities, staff, and contractors to comply with QLD Government & WHS requirements.
- Provide viable suggestions to the Manager to help boost the outlet's productivity
- Follow instructions given by the Floor Manager daily for smooth business operations
- Continuously monitor the work of team members during shifts
**What we will be looking for in a Logistics Captain**
- Strong knowledge and experience within a high-volume event centre or warehouse.
- Proven time-management skills, with the ability to thrive in a high-pressure working workplace
- Proven ability to build productive relationships and to manage and instigate change
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Forklift Licence
- Responsible Service of Alcohol accreditation
