Character Living Building Company is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to take control of on-site project delivery and develop the skills required to progress into more senior roles within the business.
Working alongside the on-site team, you will oversee end-to-end build coordination, direct subcontractors as required, and take ownership of site systems, processes, and culture, with genuine support to implement improvements and best-practice methods.
We actively support your growth through ongoing training and development, with a clearly defined pathway into more senior roles as your skills and leadership capability progress.

THE ROLE
As a Leading Hand Carpenter, you will play a hands-on role on-site, leading by example and ensuring quality delivery across all projects. Key responsibilities include:
* Directing and mentoring junior carpenters and apprentices.
* Ensuring all work is completed efficiently and to Australian standards.
* Assisting the manager in coordinating workflow across projects.
* Managing materials to ensure they are ordered and available when required.
* Maintaining compliance with company policies and National OHS standards.
* Driving the company culture and setting high standards to achieve exceptional results.
You will be supported to influence how we work, with opportunities to implement your ideas and improve efficiency on-site.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for a Leading Hand Carpenter who demonstrates:
* A positive, open, and growth-focused mindset, with a willingness to learn and mentor the team.
* Clear and effective communication skills, both on-site and with the wider team.
* Formal carpentry qualifications with experience across all areas of the trade.
* Strong knowledge of the building process, standards, and regulations.
* Previous experience as a Leading Hand Carpenter or in a similar supervisory role (desirable).
* A collaborative approach to problem-solving combined with resilience and adaptability on-site.
