The function undertakes a variety of audit work in addition to traditional financial-based audits and assurance work to assess controls.
The Internal Audit team operates under a formal Charter approved by Audit and Risk Committee, a committee of the Board of Trustees, and reports functionally to the Audit and Risk Committee and administratively to the Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, with an independent reporting line to the Vice Chancellor and President.
Because of its independent status the Office of Audit and Assurance is well placed to provide management and senior executive with impartial reports on University operations.About the OpportunityAn exciting opportunity exists within the Office of Audit and Assurance for a Manager, Internal Audit to join the team.The Manager, Internal Audit will be responsible for:Leading risk-based audits & investigations across operational, financial and compliance areas, delivering clear, value-adding insights to senior management and the Audit & Risk Committee.
Driving audit transformation by embedding data-analytics and AI tools that lift efficiency and enhance assurance.
Advising executives on risk, controls and emerging regulations, helping shape a robust governance culture University-wide.
Coaching and mentoring audit staff, fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing and high performance.
Managing projects, budgets and external providers to ensure engagements are on time, on scope and on budget while upholding Global Internal Audit Standards.
This is a full-time, ongoing position based at Western's Parramatta South Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required.

You will be:A qualified audit leader – post-graduate accounting/audit credentials (CA/CPA/CIA or similar) with 4 + years' experience managing internal-audit or assurance programs; higher-ed exposure a plus.
A risk & controls expert who harnesses data-analytics and AI to elevate assurance.
A proven designer and deliverer of complex audits & investigations, backed by sharp project-management and analytical skills.
Up to date with contemporary audit, assurance and risk trends/standards.
A compelling communicator and influencer—able to brief senior executives and Boards with clarity.
An engaging people-leader who builds capability and strong cross-campus relationships.
