**The Opportunity**
We're looking for a Social Media Officer to join our social media team and play a role in shaping how the Department connects with the public online.
In this role, you'll be a go-to expert for all things social - creating content and managing the full content lifecycle, from creative planning and production through to publishing, engagement, performance optimisation, and reporting. You'll work across both organic and paid campaigns, using your knowledge of audience targeting, boosting strategies, and analytics to maximise reach and impact.
You'll have the opportunity to identify emerging trends, manage risks, and guide internal teams on best practice - all while helping to strengthen the Department's presence across key platforms. You'll also support the administration of our social media management and analytics tools and play a key role in shaping how we measure and report on success.

To succeed in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate:
- Proven ability to plan, produce and optimise social media content and campaigns, including audience targeting, budget management, A/B testing and performance tracking.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate social media data and platform insights into actionable improvements and audience growth strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with a professional and tactful approach to engaging stakeholders and managing sensitive issues.
- Highly organised and adaptable, able to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
**Qualifications/Experience**
Relevant tertiary level qualifications in communications or a related field or equivalent industry experience is desirable.
**Special Conditions**
- A National Police Check (NPC) which must be renewed every three years.
- A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
**Tenure of Vacancy**
Temporary appointment up to 2 years.
**Remuneration**
ASO5 - $85,790 to $95,413 pa + superannuation.
