About the Microbiology Laboratory
The laboratory offers comprehensive microbiological diagnostics, including bacteriology, serology, parasitology, TB, and molecular testing. With over 50 staff members, we collaborate closely with our Colchester Microbiology laboratory to perform a wide range of traditional and automated tests.

Role Responsibilities
Lead Biomedical Scientist for a specialist area
Manage and coordinate daily team activities
Drive service improvements
Process specialist investigations, ensuring quality and accuracy of results
Provide expert advice to clinicians on test appropriateness and timing
Offer specialist services such as training, troubleshooting, and problem-solving within your area
Work flexibly to meet service needs, including possible extended hours and participation in a 24/7 service
Work Environment and Safety
The role involves contact with human body fluids, tissues, and hazardous chemicals, including blood, pus, urine, feces, and respiratory secretions.
