The Senior Social Worker plays a crucial role in providing care to pregnant women and their children during the antenatal and postnatal periods within a community setting. This service aims to support families through a continuum of care.

Main Responsibilities:

* Provide specialist counselling and case management support services for patients who use drugs or alcohol and are pregnant or responsible for parenting children under the age of two years old.
* Partner with parents and families to address child protection and well-being issues, including reducing the risks associated with harmful patterns of parental substance use.
* Maintain professional boundaries and ethical practice when working with families and other service providers.

Requirements:

* Tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership with a relevant professional body.
* Extensive post-graduate clinical experience in drug and alcohol counselling as well as in an area such as child protection, domestic violence and/or family relationship issues.
* Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based psychosocial interventions for addressing domestic violence, child abuse or neglect issues and/or harmful patterns of parental substance use.
