Senior Accountant, Service & Trade Focus (4 Days per Week Option)

We're a growing, well established air conditioning and mechanical services business operating across residential, service, and commercial projects. As we continue to scale, we're looking for a highly experienced, hands on Accountant who truly understands how service based trade businesses work.
This role is ideal for someone who wants responsibility, autonomy, and influence, without needing to be on site four to five days a week.
About the Role
You'll be the backbone of our finance function, working closely with senior management to keep the business financially strong, compliant, and commercially sharp.
This is not a junior or transactional role. We're after someone who understands labour driven businesses, margins, WIP, job costing, and cash flow inside a trade environment.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounts and Financial Operations
* General day to day accounts operations across the business
* Invoice oversight, accuracy checks, approvals, and close out
* Account reconciliation including bank, credit cards, and control accounts
* Supplier and customer payment management
* Internal payroll processing and support
Financial Management and Reporting
* End to end financial management and reporting
* Job costing, margin analysis, and labour efficiency reporting
* Monthly management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
* Cash flow management and forward cash flow forecasting
Compliance and Governance
* BAS, payroll tax, and statutory compliance obligations
* Liaison with external accountants, payroll providers, and advisors as required
Systems, Strategy, and Growth Support
* Integration, optimisation, and ongoing improvement of Xero and SimPRO
* Supporting commercial decision making through financial insights
* Assisting leadership with growth planning, scalability, and performance analysis
What We're Looking For
* Fully qualified Accountant, CPA or CA preferred
* Minimum 10 years experience in accounting
* Strong experience in service based trade businesses, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or similar
* Proven experience with job costing and WIP
* Advanced knowledge of Xero, SimPRO experience highly regarded
* Commercial mindset, not just compliance focused
* Confident, reliable, and comfortable working autonomously
* Strong communication skills, practical and down to earth
