Independent Chair of the CEO Employment Matters Committee
The Council is seeking to appoint an Independent Member as Chair of the CEO Employment Matters Committee effective from 1 March 2026. The Chair will bring expert perspective to the Committee and support the Mayor and Councillors through all stages of the CEO employment lifecycle. This role provides independent advice to the Mayor and Councillors, facilitating effective discussions that support consistent and fair outcomes for the Committee. The Chair will be responsible for leading Committee meetings, guiding the Committee through CEO performance management and reporting, and ensuring appropriate matters are reported through to the Council. The Chair will be appointed for a term of up to a maximum of four years. This is a paid position with the fees commensurate with the individual\'s skills and experience, charged at an hourly rate, capped at an annual amount (cap to be agreed). The Chair will possess and be able to demonstrate the following: Experience in employment related matters including executive recruitment, remuneration and performance management; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Understanding of good governance and Local Government; Ability to work effectively with Councillors and the CEO; and Understanding of Latrobe City and Gippsland region.
