Leonardo International Helicopter Division performs research, design, development, production, customer support and marketing of Leonard's extensive range of products; modern helicopters and tiltrotors for civil, parapublic and defence applications. The Division manages the entire helicopter development and production cycle. Production and assembly plants are concentrated in Italy, UK, Poland and the US. The AW139, AW169 and AW189 models are part of a family of new generation helicopters, all featuring the same design philosophy and the same certification and safety standards.
Leonardo Australia is the Australian subsidiary of Leonardo International, offering full support services including engineering and maintenance including logistics management and other related support functions. Helicopter activities include helicopter gearbox overhauls in our state-of-the art MRO facility. We also perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, aircraft modifications and deployed support to customer maintenance activities. Our typical customers work in emergency services, offshore operations, in both government and private sectors including defence. Leonardo Australia has two key divisions, Helicopters and Electronics.
About the role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Quality Manager is directly accountable for the effective management and delivery of all Quality and WHS functional aspects for our Helicopters Line of Business (LoB) related to Helicopter Transmissions, Aviation and Electronics Line of Business (LoB) requirements within Leonardo Australia, including administration and management reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities Include:
End to end establishment of LA's Quality & WHS Frameworks with the MD.
Effective delivery and management control of all Quality activities to ensure business confidence as it relates specifically to Quality.
Leadership of a small team, including oversight of consultants as required to enable Quality Functional SME Set up, including WHS.
End to end management and risk and compliance of Leonardo Australia' QMS, including our Helicopter Transmission (MRO) Facility & existing AMS operations.
Conducting Quality/ISO Audits & Reporting any discrepancies into MD and Senior Management.
Document writing, management oversight and signing of Certification Authorisations, including submission of required changes to relevant Authorities.
Qualifications & Clearances:
Bachelor's degree or related qualifications within Engineering, Aeronautics, Quality Management.
Knowledge of Aeronautics: aerodynamics, flight mechanics, aeronautic construction, aircraft engines, propellers, material fatigue elements, tools, corrosion on aeronautic materials, maintenance practices, on-board equipment and instruments.
Basic knowledge of NDT procedures.
Knowledge of Aeronautic Regulation with particular reference to EASA Part 145 / CASA Part 145
ISO 19011 for Auditing
Must be an Australian citizen eligible for a Defence Security Clearance.
Clean National Police Clearance, or ability to obtain.
Skills & Experience:
>5-10 years of relevant Quality & WHS Functional Management experience in Aviation (Part 145) & Electronics as it relates to setting up a new regional subsidiary governance environment across Quality and WHS.
Flexible to travel, train & communicate with our global counterparts in Europe (Italy).
Strong ability and awareness to demonstrate management control across task activity delivery back to a clear Quality & WHS Framework and pin point risks and priorities.
High attention to detail with good communication, implementation and organisational skills to work across multiple task areas and delegate/deliver within a small team environment.
