The Role:

Please note- to be considered in this role you must have experience developing FM processes within hospitals.

The purpose of the National Asset and Facilities Manager is to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the organisation's asset and facilities portfolio to ensure assets are planned, maintained, and utilised effectively, safely, and sustainably.

The role is responsible for establishing and implementing asset management strategies, maximising asset value and performance across the asset lifecycle, managing risk and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.

Key accountabilities in the role:

* Provide strategic leadership for the planning, management, and optimisation of the organisation's asset and facilities portfolio, ensuring alignment with clinical service needs and organisational objectives
* Develop, implement, and maintain portfolio-level strategies, asset management frameworks, policies, that support safe, reliable, and sustainable hospital environments across the portfolio
* Oversee lifecycle asset management, including asset condition assessment, maintenance planning, renewal, and replacement programs, to maximise asset performance, reliability, and value.
* Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements relating to healthcare facilities, essential services, and built assets.
* Identify, assess, and manage asset and facilities-related risks, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place to protect patient safety, service continuity, and organisational reputation.
* Establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across clinical, operational, corporate, and external partners, ensuring timely communication and issue resolution
* Provide structured, transparent reporting to executive leadership and governance bodies, tracking progress, performance, risks, issues, and program outcomes

Your duties and responsibilities will be as follows:

* Manage the outsourced facilities management contract, ensuring contractual compliance, performance outcomes, value for money, and continuous improvement in service delivery.
* Monitor and manage facilities performance and expenditure of the asset and facilities portfolio, including budget development, forecasting, expenditure control, and financial reporting, with specific accountability for the financial performance, value for money, and commercial management of the outsourced facilities management contract.
* Develop and implement governance mechanisms for decision-making, reporting, risk escalation, assurance processes, and program performance tracking across the portfolio.
* Drive continuous improvement and capability uplift in facilities management, identifying opportunities to mature processes, tools, methodologies, governance maturity, and workforce capability.
* Define and embed portfolio-wide standards, policies, and processes for asset and facilities management to drive consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement ensuring compliance with regulatory, technical, and organisational requirements.

Skills and experience required for the role:

* At least 7–10 years' experience successfully leading asset and facilities management functions within complex, multi-site organisations, delivering safe, reliable, and compliant operational outcomes.
* Experience working within hospital environments or the broader healthcare industry, managing assets and facilities in live clinical settings with strict regulatory, safety, and service continuity requirements.
* Demonstrated experience establishing and embedding asset and facilities management frameworks, including governance processes, standards, policies, and operating procedures.
* Strong track record of resolving complex asset, facilities, and service delivery issues, ensuring coordinated, compliant, and risk-managed outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
* Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to clearly and credibly influence clinical, operational, technical, and executive stakeholders.
