The PMSA – Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association – owns four of Queensland's well-known independent schools: Brisbane Boys' College, Clayfield College, Somerville House and Sunshine Coast Grammar School. Established in 1918, the PMSA is a joint mission of the Uniting Church of Australia, Queensland Synod, and the Presbyterian Church of Queensland.
THE ROLE:
As Financial Controller, you will lead the accounting function and ensure high-quality financial reporting, governance and controls. Working closely with senior leaders, the role turns financial data into clear, actionable insights and drives improvements that strengthen both financial outcomes and operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
* Lead end-to-end financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management, ensuring compliance with accounting, tax and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain strong internal controls and act as the key liaison for audits and external stakeholders.
* Provide high-quality financial and business analysis to identify performance drivers, cost optimisation and efficiency opportunities.
* Partner with senior leaders to translate financial data into actionable insights that support organisational performance and continuous improvement.
* Establish and mature business intelligence, reporting and spend analysis capabilities to support informed decision-making and strategic outcomes
ABOUT YOU :
* CPA or CA qualified, with at least five years' experience in senior accounting or financial management roles.
* Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, compliance, audit management, budgeting and forecasting within complex environments.
* Highly analytical, with strong risk management and problem-solving capability, including the implementation of effective internal controls.
* Advanced user of financial systems, including ERP platforms and business intelligence tools, with experience improving data quality and reporting capability.
* A collaborative leader with a strong commitment to ethical practice, organisational values and child-safe standards.
