Machinist / Fitter and Turner (Hydraulic Cylinders) - A Key Role in Our Organization
About the Job:
* We are seeking a skilled Machinist / Fitter and Turner to join our team, with expertise in hydraulic cylinder maintenance and repair.
* The ideal candidate will have experience in a workshop environment, with strong machining process knowledge and the ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Completing assigned work to required quality standards and within agreed timeframes, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
2. Interpreting job specifications, technical drawings, and schematics to produce high-quality results.
3. Operating heavy machinery, hand tools, lifting equipment, and related workshop gear safely and effectively.
4. Producing sketches or fabricating parts in accordance with drawings, demonstrating attention to detail and precision.
5. Maintaining tools, equipment, and the work area to a high standard, promoting a safe and organized workspace.
6. Accurately completing documentation and service records, ensuring transparency and accountability.
7. Providing guidance and mentoring to apprentices as needed, contributing to their growth and development.
8. Carrying out general mechanical fitting duties, including disassembling, inspecting, measuring, and reporting on component condition.
9. Repairing and reconditioning hydraulic cylinders used in various applications, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
Requirements:
* A relevant trade qualification: Machinist or First-Class Machinist, with a strong understanding of machining processes and techniques.
* Experience in a workshop environment, with sound machining process knowledge and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
* Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
* Competency operating manual lathes and milling machines, with a strong understanding of machine operation and maintenance.
* High accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work to fine tolerances, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
* Skills in internal and external screw cutting, boring, and grooving, with a strong understanding of machining techniques and best practices.
* Experience machining a wide range of materials, including metals and other composites, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
* A forklift ticket and MIG welding experience (desirable), with a strong understanding of workshop equipment and operations.
* Strong communication, time management, and organizational abilities, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
* A valid driver's license, personal transport, and a demonstrated safety-first approach, with a focus on protecting oneself and others.
