About the role
The Manager, Social Media is responsible for leading the strategy, planning and performance of Destination NSW’s social media channels, including Visit NSW and Sydney. The role ensures each channel has a clear and distinct approach that aligns with brand and marketing objectives, while remaining focused on the needs and interests of audiences. Working closely with the Associate Director Content, the role oversees the development and delivery of social media strategies, ensuring activity across platforms is well planned, consistent with brand standards and compliant with Destination NSW’s Social Media Policy.
The role also oversees the day-to-day management of social media activity, including content development, publishing, monitoring and performance reporting. Working closely with social media coordinators and internal teams across marketing, communications, PR and paid media, the Manager ensures a coordinated and effective approach to both organic and paid activity. The position maintains strong relationships with external partners and agencies, while using audience insights, performance data and platform trends to continually refine and improve social media campaigns and initiatives.

About You
You bring strong experience in social media strategy, marketing and campaign delivery, with a clear understanding of how to plan, deliver and measure activity across a range of digital platforms. You are confident managing multiple social media channels with distinct brand voices, ensuring each remains relevant and engaging for its audience while contributing to broader marketing objectives. You possess a solid understanding of digital marketing, analytics and content strategy, and you know how to build and grow online communities and use insights to refine and improve performance.
You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift and deadlines are tight. You can manage a high volume of projects at once while maintaining a clear strategic focus. You keep up to date with emerging social and digital trends and understand how to apply them in a practical way. Experience across platforms such as Meta (Instagram and Facebook), TikTok, X, YouTube and Pinterest is essential, along with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders, agencies and external partners. Experience using Sprinklr and Social Search tools would also be beneficial.
