Job Opportunity

The Victorian Ombudsman is seeking a Senior Solicitor to join their team. As a key member of the legal team, you will provide expert advice on corporate and commercial law, including procurement, contracts, governance, privacy, freedom of information, statutory interpretation, and administrative law.

* Key Responsibilities:
o Provide expert legal advice to the organisation on a range of matters, including corporate and commercial law;
o Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations;
o Conduct investigations and provide recommendations to management on appropriate courses of action;
o Represent the organisation in court and other external forums as required;
o Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including colleagues, directors, and managers;
o Assist in designing, coordinating, and facilitating training programs for the legal team and other divisions within the organisation.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

* Significant experience in corporate and commercial law, including procurement, contracts, governance, privacy, freedom of information, statutory interpretation, and administrative law;
* Demonstrated expertise in public sector decision-making, human rights, litigation, and investigations;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders;
* Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of discretion and confidentiality;
* A strong understanding of organisational culture and values, with the ability to promote and uphold these principles.
