Newton Moore Education Support Centre (ESC) is an Independent Public School nestled in the coastal City of Bunbury, WA. The Centre is designed to meet the needs of Years 7 to 12 students with intellectual disabilities or autism with high needs. We offer a caring, respectful, small school environment where all students participate and actively engage in all facets of school life.
Our school has been recognised as an Excellent Public School, centred on innovative programs and outstanding staff who are passionate about our students.
At Newton Moore ESC we believe that effective teachers build relationships and connections which are key to student success. We model leadership in our classes, value self-reflection, seek to learn and challenge our cultural responsiveness, and know our students from all transition points and areas of wellbeing. We plan with the child at the centre, with families and young people, through Individual Education Plans and Person Centred Plans. We differentiate learning through tiered responses and collaborative planning, delivering through strong relationships and structured routines with clear expectations. We create safe learning spaces with tiered supports and trained staff to build student academic, social and pastoral needs.
We teach our students in the way they prefer to learn; we recognise learners are individuals and require approaches that meet where they are at, as we do with assessment.
