About the role The Senior Financial Modeller will be responsible for developing investment quality discounted cash flow models to support business cases and provide a deeper understanding of AGLs carbon project development, hydro, batteries, wind, solar, and thermal generation assets. The modelling will be at both the project, asset and portfolio levels supporting both investment decisions and strategy development. This role will be responsible for developing portfolio level models to support AGL through an exciting time in the Australian energy industry. About the team The Asset Portfolio Planning and Carbon Development team provide a key interface between the trading, finance and operations teams in the areas of capital expenditure planning, business case development, outage scheduling and strategy development as it relates to AGLs carbon projects development and existing generation assets. We are responsible for providing insight and guidance to decision makers including senior management and the board in relation to large capital projects and portfolio planning. What you’ll be doing Provide a key leadership in promoting best practice financial modeling (DCF/NPV/IRR) at the project, asset, and portfolio level. Maintain financial valuation models of AGLs key assets, carbon projects and portfolios and promote understanding of the value and cost of each asset and portfolio. Liaise with stakeholders to manage inputs for models. Assist with preparation of slide packs and board packs for decision makers. Work to project timelines, milestones and key deliverable dates. Provide support implementing a consistent approach to spend evaluation aligning project values to corporate goals. Provide recommendations to assist the development of AGLs generation portfolio. What you’ll bring Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline. A creative and curious analyst with a proven track record in financial model development. 5 years of professional experience in financial modelling – understanding of the energy industry would be significantly advantageous. High level of proficiency in financial analysis and scenario modelling, excel and VBA. Develop and maintain modelling templates and documentation to promote consistency and best practices. Identify and implement improvements in modelling methodology and tools to enhance efficiency and the quality of analytical insights. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior analysts within the team. Conduct rigorous peer reviews of financial models developed by team members to ensure accuracy and alignment with best practice modelling principles.
