The Company

An innovative Australian owned business who manage a renewable portfolio of over 3GWs. The portfolio is mainly wind and solar but will likely expand into storage and other new markets. The founding members and senior leadership team are extremely well networked and experienced in the Australian electricity market. The portfolio is under long term contractual agreements meaning the company is very stable and will continue to expand.

Location

The role can be carried out remotely and you will be able to work anywhere in Australia. The team will provide you with all the equipment required to carry out the role.

The Role

* Provide support to the companies energy spot market and plant operation team
* Assist in monitoring systems and auto-bidding software.
* Under defined guidelines and procedures, assist in re-bidding plant in the energy market and monitoring dispatch outcomes.
* Provide information and advice to our clients about market conditions and their asset performance.
* Support Operations Controllers and the Operations Manager
* Help to understand efficiency and improvement areas and implementing these across processes and procedures.
* Analysing operational data from market information, plant and weather data and providing both regular and ad-hoc reporting.
* Assist with intermediary services such as settlements and accounts.

About You

* Strong analytic background, ability to process detailed data and identify anomalies. Good attention to detail.
* Background in energy trading, spot trading or electricity generation operations ideal but not essential.
* Understanding of the NEM and key technical features such as constraints and FCAS.
* Able to operate in a start-up-type environment with evolving processes and systems.
* Level-headed and able to work in high pressure situations and make clear and effective decisions with imperfect information.
* Able and willing to develop and train over to 6-12 months into working shift roles (12 hour shifts including night shifts and weekends) is valuable but not essential.
* Ambitious and excited to build a career in operations of renewable generation and battery storage to support Australia's transition to a clean energy future.

Requirements

* Strong command of spoken and written English
* Strong analytical skills
* Confident in IT systems
* Deep working knowledge of MS Excel, Power BI or comparable tools for data analytics, visualisation and operational support
* Strong but modest self-confidence
* Calm under pressure
* Able to work alone – from home, without supervision
* Diligent and reliable
* Able and keen to embrace shift work involving non-business hours
