Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Physiotherapist to join our team in the Shepparton area, delivering high-quality physiotherapy care within residential aged care facilities. In this role, you will:
- Conduct thorough initial and ongoing functional and mobility assessments, including post-fall, post-hospitalisation, or acute illness episodes
- Develop, implement, and review individualised care / therapy plans
- Provide one-to-one and group therapy focusing on strength, balance, reablement, and mobility
- Lead and support falls prevention programs, such as Otago or Sunbeam-style interventions
- Recommend, prescribe, and monitor assistive devices, mobility aids, pressure care equipment, and manual handling supports
- Provide manual handling training and guidance to clinical and support staff
- Participate in care plan reviews, documentation, and quality compliance in line with Aged Care Quality Standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing, occupational therapy, and other allied health professionals
You will play a key role in delivering restorative, strength‑based, resident‑centred therapy interventions and contributing to the overall clinical governance and continuous improvement of the aged care service.
Key Criteria & Attributes
Essential:
- Degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent), eligibility for registration with AHPRA
- Demonstrated experience (or strong interest) in aged care / geriatric physiotherapy / rehabilitation
- Sound clinical reasoning and assessment skills
- Ability to design and deliver individual and group interventions
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and capacity to work in a team
- Understanding of manual handling and ability to train others
- Valid driver’s licence (for travel between sites)
Desirable:
- Previous experience implementing falls prevention, reablement, or restorative programs
- Experience working in residential aged care settings
- Familiarity with relevant outcome measures and funding models (e.g. AN‑ACC)
- Further professional development or specialty interests in gerontology, falls, or rehabilitation
