EDC Consultants is seeking an experienced 3D Modeller to join our growing team in Newcastle. We specialise in delivering high-quality structural steel detailing solutions across commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and mining sectors since 1992.
About the Role
You will be responsible for producing accurate 3D models and detailed shop drawings, working closely with project teams and clients to ensure efficient and buildable solutions. This full‐time, on‐site role is based in Newcastle, NSW. The 3D Modeller – Construction Designer will create detailed and accurate 3D models for structural and mechanical construction projects, utilizing specialized software to generate precise designs, make adjustments for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies before construction drawings are issued. Collaboration with project teams and contributing to the enhancement of design workflows are key aspects of the role.
Key Requirements
* 5-10 years' experience in structural steel 3D modelling
* Proficiency in Bocad (preferred) or similar software (Tekla, etc.)
* Proven experience across commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and mining projects
* Strong understanding of Australian Standards and fabrication practices
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and resolve detailing challenges
* High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and time management
* Proficiency in 3D design and creating accurate design models for construction projects
* Strong attention to detail and problem‐solving skills to ensure precision in design processes
* Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with project teams
* Familiarity with BIM workflows and structural/mechanical design standards is a plus
* Relevant qualifications in architecture, engineering, or a related field
