Chef Assistant
The role of a chef assistant involves supporting the culinary team in preparing and cooking food. Key responsibilities include:
1. Preparing ingredients for cooking
2. Preparing food items that don't require cooking
3. Engaging in trade level activities such as cooking, baking and setting up on-site kitchens
Additional duties include:
* Reheating food to prepare meals
* Freezing and preserving foods where appropriate
* Portioning, presenting and serving food and beverages to customers
* Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
* Maintaining kitchen equipment appropriately
Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with staff, residents and visitors in a professional manner is essential.
Certification Requirements: Working towards Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher and relevant experience are highly valued.
