Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Estimators (SMP & Civil) to join our Sustaining Capital Projects Team in a full-time capacity. Based at our West Perth office, with occasional travel to site, this role is pivotal to the successful delivery of tender packages and provides essential support to both the tendering and project execution teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong first principles estimating expertise, a deep understanding of SMP and Civil construction, and a proven ability to develop, write, and review detailed methodologies and project programs.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop accurate first principles SMP and Civil cost estimates across structural, mechanical, piping and civil disciplines
* Write and review construction methodologies and project schedules/programs tailored to each tender
* Complete detailed tender submission schedules and documentation
* Maintain, track and report on tender progress, pricing, performance and documentation
* Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and scope alignment
* Review drawings and scopes of work to ensure alignment with pricing and execution strategies
* Perform material take-offs and compile comprehensive cost documentation
* Identify and advise on commercial, contractual and scope departures
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
* Ensure compliance with client QA/QC requirements and company policies and procedures
* Prepare and manage project schedules and budgets within tight deadlines
* Participate in client meetings and site visits to assess and review works as required
About You
* Eligible to work in Australia
* Construction White Card
* Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience in Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Piping Construction works as an Estimator or similar (mining industry experience desirable)
* Proficient in MS Office Suite and MS Projects
* Demonstrated experience in SMP tender development, material take-offs, and project execution planning
* Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
* Excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to high performance
* Sound business acumen and adaptability across diverse project environments
