Reporting to the Director Environment and Community and as an integral member of this team, this role forms part of the Australian communications function with a focus on corporate reputation management across Glencore Coal Assets Australia (GCAA), and the delivery of an integrated media and communications, corporate brand and issues management strategy across multiple mining operations in NSW and Queensland.
The role includes external and internal communications; issues management; crisis communications; and brand management.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a proactive external relations strategy to build positive external brand awareness across multiple media platforms.
- Provide input into communications strategies for GCAA initiatives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant regional and local media.
- Oversee the delivery of internal communications to facilitate cross‐division understanding.
- Provide regular updates on mining operations, projects, and business initiatives.
- Coordinate the regular supply of GCAA content for a variety of Australian internal communications channels.
- Work closely with internal teams in health and safety, environment and community, operations, tax, legal, finance, marketing, project development, procurement and logistics.
- Collaborate with the Regional Corporate Affairs team on the development of positions on key issues related to the company and industry.
- Work with the NSW Minerals Council on key industry issues and lead GCAA crisis communications.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of multi‐disciplined communications experience.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in media management, communications, issues & reputation management, public & community relations.
- Previous experience in the Mining Industry and/or with large organisations; strong understanding of commercial and business operations.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills within an agile team environment.
- Strategic and process‐driven approach to communication planning and execution.
- Successful crisis communications management experience.
- Familiarity with environmental legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in digital media strategy, planning & execution.
