WA Public School Jobs - WA State Education Jobs.

We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Future is Ours at Cooloongup Primary School (PS) – an Independent Public School offering rich, inclusive programs from Kindergarten to Year 6, with embedded 21st century skills and evidence-based approaches to learning. While we acknowledge our proud history, we are a forward-looking school that teaches for impact and is committed to the wellbeing and success of every child.

Cooloongup PS offers an onsite Specialised Learning Program (SLP) for students with autism spectrum disorder. This program targets students without intellectual disability and focuses on academic engagement, organisational skills, social cognition, peer relationships, and self-regulation. Evidence based practices, and ongoing data collection, underpin the program. Flexibility is essential, as staff may work across both mainstream and SLP settings to support student integration.

Central to our success is the strength of our staff. We are a supportive and collaborative team that values every contribution and works hard to grow and develop stronger, more skilled educators. We are a Positive Behaviour Support school that uses the Zones of Regulation to build student self regulation and social emotional capacity. Our schoolwide Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework ensures that every student receives the right level of academic, social and behavioural support. This includes evidence based programs such as the MultiLit intervention package and Spelling Mastery to strengthen literacy outcomes. We recognise that the relationships we form with students, parents and each other are key to our success. Successful applicants may be offered positions within the parameters of their Job Description Form (JDF).

As an Education Assistant Special Needs, you will assist teachers in delivering planned education programs and creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. This includes working with individuals and small groups to implement targeted initiatives that build both academic achievement and social emotional development.

We encourage applications from those with experience working with students with additional needs, particularly ASD. Suitable applicants will display initiative, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a strong commitment to student learning and wellbeing.

At Cooloongup, you will be part of a team that supports one another, values qualified growth, and shares a commitment to providing the best possible education for every student.

Suitable applicants should show excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills as well as work in a highly collaborative manner in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
