Primary objective
Provide educational leadership and school wide support to teachers in the development, implementation and evaluation of
effective teaching and learning curriculum and pedagogy and lead the adoption of key teaching methodologies including Learning
Through Doing and Explicit Instruction through coaching and mentoring. Lead school partnerships including Japanese partnership
and SVPC (Student Voice Positive Choice).
Context statement
Durack School is an independent public school (IPS) located in the City of Palmerston, catering for approximately 600 students
(preschool to Year 6). The student cohort is composed of 16% Indigenous and 19% English as a Second Language students. As an
IPS, the focus is on quality teaching, high expectations, maintaining community partnerships and developing skills for the future.
The school's vision is \"Every Learner Making Progress'. Durack School's vision is sported by a range of academic, cultural and
wellbeing programs. Key initiatives include Japanese language and culture, PM Writing, data driven intervention, inclusive
practices, a strong English block, and a whole-school 1:1 iPad program embedding Digital Technologies. Student wellbeing is
nurtured through the Grow Your Mind program and a strong focus on mental health and resilience.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Through strategic partnerships collaborate with teachers to lead and manage all aspects of the Australian Curriculum including
providing advice and guidance on the curriculum and pedagogy, assessment, and reporting.
2. Develop and provide practical advice and guidance on analysis of data specific to teaching and learning programs to support
continuous improvement in educational practices and deliver outcomes across a diverse range of students.
3. Work collaboratively with teachers using coaching principles and practices to develop whole of school approaches to
implementation of educational methodologies including Explicit Instruction, Learning Through Doing, Teach Like A Champion
and Student Leadership (Student Voice Positive Choice).
1. Participate fully as member of the school's Leadership Team and assist with business planning, reporting and ongoing
continuous improvement of educational programs including preparing school wide reports of educational performance.
1. Facilitate a community engagement focus in teaching and learning practices to support effective educational outcomes for
students.
Selection criteria
1. Registered, or ability to register with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory, and hold, or able to obtain a
Working with Children Clearance Notice.
1. Demonstrated substantial and current knowledge of the Australian Curriculum in development and delivery of teaching
programs including curriculum development and pedagogy
3. Demonstrated and sound working knowledge of the practices required to influence teachers to implement quality
1. educational practices including coaching principles that will lead to enhances educational program delivery using evidence-
based performance data.
5. Demonstrated sound experience in the implementation of innovative methodologies including Explicit Instruction, Learning
Through Doing, Teach Like a Champion and Student Leadership (Student Voice Positive Choice).
1. Demonstrated ability to monitor educational program implementation through ongoing monitoring of performance data to
ensure achievement of educational outcomes tailored to student needs.
