My Build Collective are a small Launceston-based design and construction office specialising in high-quality custom residential building design and construction.
Due to intentional company growth we are looking for an experienced building designer or architect to lead our residential design team and play a key role in shaping our design work.
This is a hands‐on role and will suit someone who enjoys both design leadership and direct project involvement, and who thrives in a collaborative small‐team environment.
The role
* Lead a small residential design team from concept through to construction
* Drive strong design outcomes whilst balancing client, consultant and regulatory requirements
* Oversee project delivery across all stages, including documentation and approvals
* Mentor and support other designers and draftspeople
* Work closely with directors and clients to translate vision into built outcomes
* Contribute to the ongoing development of office systems and design standards
* Site visits and project management of current projects
About you
* Experienced building designer or registered architect
* Strong background in residential design
* Excellent design, documentation and technical skills
* Confident communicator with clients, consultants and authorities
* Highly organised, proactive and detail‐oriented
* Comfortable working in a small office where responsibility and autonomy go hand in hand
* Proven experience leading projects and small teams – highly desirable
Software and skills
* Proficient in industry‐standard design and documentation software (Revit)
* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
* Proficient with Outlook
* Strong understanding of residential construction, planning controls and building codes
* Experience coordinating consultants and managing approvals processes
* Supportive, collaborative working environment
