Junior Sous Chef – InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef (IHG Hotels & Resorts)
Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 per annum (exclusive of superannuation). Position type: Full Time. Location: InterContinental Hayman Island, Great Barrier Reef, Hayman Island, Whitsundays, QLD.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and support to the kitchen team and collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership team to ensure food service planning, direction, and quality meet the highest standards.
- Manage daily kitchen operations, set team performance goals, mentor staff, and resolve conflicts.
- Train team members on brand standards, regulations, and compliance; promote teamwork with other departments.
- Support events, develop menus, maintain food safety and storage protocols, and ensure equipment functionality.
- Adhere to health regulations, conduct workplace health and safety initiatives, and keep food and supply costs under control.
Requirements
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
- Over two years of chef experience (or equivalent combination of education and culinary experience).
- Experience in a quick‑paced environment preparing and cooking high‑quality dishes.
- Current food safety certification.
- Fluency in English.
- Appropriate Australian working rights.
