Overview
We are currently looking for a Regional Director of Business Development for the Australian market.
Responsibilities
* The successful candidate will drive GridBeyond’s growth related to demand response and behind the meter energy management products in Australia. A real hunter mentality is required to generate, source and close leads across the commercial and industrial (C&I) space.
* Focus on securing new business within key C&I sectors, monetizing flexibility through ancillary services, and wholesale trading, as well as growing GridBeyond’s Process Optimization business for industrial-sized customers.
* Lead growth in the managed batteries as a service offering (to optimize revenues from both front of the meter and behind the meter C&I energy storage) and draw up a sales plan to win these service agreements across Australia.
* Work closely with the business development team to strategize and target new customers for growth deliverables: Ancillary Services, Funded Solar / Battery, Multi Sites, Risk Management & Net Zero.
* Target new customers through sector-specific and strategic account planning, supported by marketing and business development teams.
* Experience in selling energy-based value propositions directly to C&I customers is advantageous, as is experience selling Solar PV and Storage into large commercial estates, large industrial sectors, and community battery solutions.
What will I be doing?
Responsibilities include
* Directly developing, managing and owning the sales pipeline.
* Market engagement, organizing sales meetings with prospects and clients to identify opportunities and win utility-scale battery contracts.
* Managing partners and key stakeholders to support growth within specific sectors or regions.
* Collaborating with internal teams to support project delivery from sales through deployment to account management.
* Leading the new business pipeline with a hunter mentality to sell GridBeyond software and hardware optimization solutions.
* Cultivating relationships with key decision makers and senior stakeholders using engagement mapping techniques.
* Progressing development of market solutions with internal stakeholders.
* Building strategic market analysis and delivering propositions based on analysis.
* Leading strategic meetings, webinars, events and seminars related to sales topics.
* Ensuring Salesforce CRM is fully updated with leads and activity at least weekly.
* Preparing monthly sales review material for Senior Leadership reviews and 6- and 12-month reviews.
* Working with marketing and other stakeholders to prepare communications and collateral, drawing insights from reports on industry advancements.
* Hosting webinars and presenting at seminars and exhibitions as a trusted advisor for key sectors.
What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?
* Ability to translate value propositions around energy market participation into customer benefits, via understanding customer processes.
* Technical aptitude to understand processes and bridge flexibility into customer and GridBeyond value.
* Strong understanding of the Australian energy markets and revenue streams for behind the meter flexibility.
* Good industry network of stakeholders in key C&I sectors.
* Autonomous, self-starter attitude in a start-up-like environment, with ability to upwardly manage.
* Significant experience in sales and commercial roles with commercial aptitude and market opportunity identification.
* Ability to communicate complex information to diverse stakeholders and provide actionable summaries for boards.
* Ideally knowledge of Solar and storage sales or funding facilities including PPAs.

* Ability to distill large documents into key strategic and commercial takeaways for management.
