About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and trauma-informed Support Worker (SCHADS Level 2) to join our team. This role involves supporting an Autistic, non-verbal participant with complex needs and behaviours of concern.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a mature, resilient, and emotionally intelligent professional who understands the importance of routine, consistency, and a structured, person-centred approach. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a small, established team of support staff and allied health professionals to provide consistent, high-quality care and behavioural support.
We are seeking an experienced Level 2 Support Worker to take on consistent weekend shifts, in addition to extra weekday shifts. The ideal candidate will be confident supporting participants with complex needs and will demonstrate strong capability in behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver dedicated 1:1 support to a participant with autism and complex behavioural needs
* Implement and adhere to Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs)
* Apply trauma-informed practices in all aspects of care
* Assist with daily living activities including personal care, meal preparation, transport, and maintaining household routines
* Support community participation and engagement in recreational activities
* Accurately document shift notes, incident reports, and participant progress
* Work collaboratively with family members, support coordinators, and allied health professionals
* Manage high-stress or escalated situations using appropriate de-escalation and behaviour support strategies in a calm and professional manner
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking someone who truly understands the complexities of working with individuals on the autism spectrum, particularly those with past trauma and behaviors of concern. This is not an entry-level role.
* Minimum 4 years' direct experience working with participants with autism and challenging behavior
* Trauma-informed care and behavior management training essential
* Experience with Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and Behavior Support Plans
* Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional during high-pressure situations
* High level of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and empathy
* Excellent communication, observational and documentation skill
* Reliable with good availability across weekdays, evenings and weekends
* Must have full working rights in Australia
