We are currently seeking a qualified Therapy Assistant tofacilitate therapy and lifestyle programs for our residents atBethanie Peel Aged Care Home located in Mandurah. Bethanie Peel isa warm and welcoming 50 bed facility set amongst landscapedgardens, with a personalised memory support area to safely andsecurely accommodate residents with dementia or similarconditions.

This role is offered on a permanent part time basis, workingMonday to Friday from 9am - 4.30pm.

We are looking for someone with a passion for working withpeople of all abilities and backgrounds. Our Therapy Assistantshave an enthusiastic and creative approach to their work and areable to support and cultivate our residents’ strengths andinterests.

An important component of this role is the ability to workautonomously and facilitate individual and group therapy sessionsindependently. You will be able to work under the guidance of aPhysiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, while also beingconfident in using your initiative and creative thinking to ensuresessions run smoothly.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a role where every dayis different, and who are passionate about supporting meaningfulengagement with people of all abilities.

About You

* Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance (orequivalent)
* Previous experience in a Therapy Assistant role, ideally inan aged care or other health care environment
* Demonstrated experience working with residents withadvanced dementia
* Ability to communicate clearly in both a verbal and writtencapacity with care recipients, families and team members
* Ability to work as part of a team as well asindividually
* Willingness to uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of TheBethanie Group
* Willingness to obtain relevant vaccinations
* Current National Police Clearance (or willingness to applyfor one)

The Role

* Implement therapy and lifestyle programs for individualresidents and groups
* Adapt activities to resident’s level of functionunder the guidance of a Physiotherapist or OccupationalTherapist
* Address a variety physical and psychological needs andprovide opportunities for meaningful engagement forresidents
* Maintain accurate documentation, both paper and computerbased
