Coordinator Gallery & Public Art (Ref:1083)

Salary starting from $109,094 per annum or $55.2095 per hour

Overview

The position of Coordinator Gallery and Public Art is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery (GRAG) and the Geraldton Visitor Centre (GVC), taking care of permanent collections, artworks for specific exhibitions, the City's Public Art portfolio, and for the supervision and capacity building of Gallery, Public Art and Visitor Experience team members.

The Coordinator will oversee the friendly, courteous and professional provision of visitor information services for the City of Greater Geraldton area. The Coordinator will develop and implement strategies which will encourage ongoing community participation and engagement with art and creative opportunities.

This is a Fixed Term, fulltime position, until June 2027 (with possibility of extension).

Key Accountabilities

* Develop and deliver an annual calendar of exhibitions and events within a planned budget by liaising with local, state and national exhibition providers, artists and interest groups.
* Curate the City's art collections, including Public Art, overseeing records management, condition monitoring, professional handling and security of the collection items.
* Establish and grow a schedule of community art workshops and associated exhibitions that promote access and inclusion to the arts.
* Oversee the daily operations of the Geraldton Visitor Centre to support and enhance the City's vision of Geraldton as desirable tourist destination.

Position Requirements

The City is looking for a professional, motivated and dynamic person to lead a high performing creative and customer service team at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery. The ideal person would have specialist knowledge in the care and handling of art, plus extensive experience in the development and delivery of arts related programmes.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration And Benefits

A salary starting from $109,094 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
