The Clinical Nurse Consultant provides expert clinical advice to patients/clients, carers and other health care professionals relating to the complex healthcare needs within the specialty of acute aged care. The Clinical Nurse Consultant in a clinical expert who, through leadership, facilitates excellence in research based clinical practice, education, research and professional leadership. The Clinical Nurse Consultant models the CORE values of the organisation.

The main purpose of this CNC position is to provide guidance and support to Wollongong Hospital staff involved in providing care to the older person. The role is focused on integrating the care for the older person with complex health needs by developing the skills and knowledge base of staff, the patients and their carers.

The CNC functions as a key resource person to other services within the ISLHD and other community based services such as Residential Aged Care Facilities.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

- Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role.

- Current AHPRA Registration

- Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field and post graduate qualifications relevant to the field of practice

This is a temporary leave relief position until 28 February 2027 with the possibility of extension.
